Lapel Lions ready for annual fruit sale
LAPEL — Lapel Lions Club is taking orders for fresh citrus fruit.
The cost of 20 pounds (2/5 of a bushel) of navel oranges or red grapefruit is $35; 40 pounds (4/5 of a bushel) costs $45.
To place an order, or for more details, contact Karen Roudebush at 765-617-2300, or any Lapel Lions Club member.
Orders must be placed by Friday, Nov. 15.
The fruit should be available for pickup at the Lions Building at 329 S. Main St., Lapel, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7.
Artists group plans art show, classes
PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society’s 12th annual Juried Show is set for Nov. 1 to Dec. 21 at Gallery 119 in Pendleton.
The show opens during a First Friday event scheduled for 6-8:30 p.m. Nov. 1.
The public is invited to view the show, vote for its favorite artwork for the People’s Choice Award, enjoy hors d’oeuvres and meet the artists.
Winners will be announced during this time by show judge Sebastian Encina.
The three divisions in this art show are 2-D, 3-D and Photography. Winners for each division will receive: $100, first place; $75, second place; $55, third place; and $25, People’s Choice.
PAS also has a variety of art classes on its schedule, including:
Pottery Class with Janae Ledbetter — 6:30-8:30 p.m. Nov. 5, 12, 19, and glaze night Dec. 10. Participants can make a hand-built project of their choosing, or the instructor will help them choose a project and teach them how to hand-build it using slab and/or coil techniques. All skill levels are welcome. Cost is $140.

The gallery is located at 119 W. State St., and its regular hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
History talk set for Anderson
ANDERSON — Madison County Historical Society has the following presentation planned at Museum of Madison County History, 15 W. 11th St., Anderson:
Madison County Historian Steven Jackson will present ‘The Mills & of Gypsies, Vesuvius, Elephants and Buffalo Bill.” at 2 p.m. Nov. 3. The topic is from his book “If the River Could Talk,” and is a continuation of his First Sunday Series.
The event is open to the public.
American Legion plans activities
PENDLETON — American Legion Post 117, 611 W. State St., Pendleton, plans the following events — open to members and non-members:
Legionnaires will be at the intersection of State Street and Pendleton Avenue from noon to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, to conduct a boot drive to collect money to support veterans programs. Also, people can stop by the post between noon and 8 p.m. daily to leave a donation.
All-you-can-eat breakfast, 7:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9
Legion Market, Nov. 16. Vendors can RSVP by calling the post.
Regular events
Beef and homemade noodle dinner, 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4 (until sold out)
Canceled for Halloween: All-you-can-eat wings: 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31. (Regular menu is available.) Wings offer returns Nov. 7.
Lunch specials (as well as regular menu): starting at 11 a.m. weekdays, until food runs out
Happy Hour: 3-6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays
Treasure Hunt drawing (open to all): 7:30 p.m. Fridays
Football pitch-in, share your favorite snacks and watch NFL teams play, 1-6 p.m. Sundays
The Legion conducts regular raffles and drawings that are open to the public.
The Legion’s general membership meeting is 6 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday each month. Public is welcome.
The facility is smoke-free.
The Legion also is recruiting volunteers and sponsors to expand its service.

Town seeks input on revitalization plan
PENDLETON — The Town of Pendleton is in the early stages of submitting a planning grant application to Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs to develop a new Downtown Revitalization Plan.
Planning grants are funded with Federal Community Development Block Grant dollars from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The program aims to encourage communities to plan for long-term holistic community development.
