Art classes on the schedule
PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society has a variety of art classes on its schedule, including:
Beginning Watercolor with Katy Burke — 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 16. Participants will paint a watercolor landscape. Cost: $50, plus $8 if using provided paints and brushes.
Inaugural Lunch and Learn Series — noon to 2 p.m. Oct. 19. Participants will join restaurateur Teddi Mangas-Coon in the kitchen at Gallery 119 to learn to “Make Baklava like a Greek Yia Yia.” Participants will bake a small pan of baklava using 60 layers of filo dough, walnuts, pecans, butter, sugar and honey. All supplies will be provided. While baking, bring a bag lunch to enjoy. Coffee and water will be provided. Cost is $30. Class limited to 10 people.
Clay and Charcuterie Board with Pam Rowley — 6-9 p.m. Oct. 23 or 1-4 p.m. Oct. 26. Participants will have the chance to create a cornucopia centerpiece, 7 inches in cirurcumference and 5 inches tall, using Deco Clay. Deco clay is an air-dry, light-weight clay. Students will select the flower colors and get to enjoy a charcuterie board (provided) with their favorite drink. All materials are included for project. Cost: $45.

The gallery is located at 119 W. State St., and its regular hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
‘Paws’ car show Saturday
PENDLETON — The second annual Friends for Paws Car Show is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at the circle in Falls Park.
It will include cars, trucks and cycles.
There’s a $15 entry fee, and there will be awards presented.
Library book sale coming up
PENDLETON — Friends of the Pendleton Community Library will conduct its last book sale of the year from Oct. 18-23 at Pendleton Community Public Library, 595 E. Water St., Pendleton.
The sale will include a variety of books for all age groups, as well as DVDs, CDs and more.
The book sale will be open the same hours as the library.
On the last day of the sale, people can fill a bag for $1.
American Legion plans activities
PENDLETON — American Legion Post 117, 611 W. State St., Pendleton, plans the following events — open to members and non-members:
Regular events
All-you-can-eat wings: 5-8 p.m. Thursdays
Lunch specials (as well as regular menu): starting at 11 a.m. weekdays, until food runs out
Happy Hour: 3-6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays
Treasure Hunt drawing: 7 p.m. Fridays
The Legion’s general membership meeting is 6 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday each month. Public is welcome.
The facility is smoke-free.
The Legion also is actively recruiting volunteers and sponsors to expand its service.

PENDLETON — Boo Bash and Trunk or Treat 2024 is set for 5-8 p.m. Satuday, Oct. 19, in Falls Park.

YMCA plans offers Father Daughter Dance
PENDLETON — Pendleton YMCA plans a Father Daughter Dance from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at American Legion Pendleton Post 117, 611 W. State St.
There will be music and dancing for all ages.
Tickets cost $20 and include light refreshments.
Home tour on tap
PENDLETON — The Second Annual Pendleton Home Tour is set for 1-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, starting at Citizens State Bank 129 S. Pendleton Ave., Pendleton.
The event is sponsored by the bank and the Pendleton Chamber of Commerce.
Tickets cost $12. Proceeds from the event will support Friends for Paws.

Town seeks input on revitalization plan
PENDLETON — The Town of Pendleton is in the early stages of submitting a planning grant application to Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs to develop a new Downtown Revitalization Plan.
Planning grants are funded with Federal Community Development Block Grant dollars from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The program aims to encourage communities to plan for long-term holistic community development.
