PAS names juried show winners

PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society announced the winners of its Juried Art Show at its First Friday event on June 7 at Gallery 119 in Pendleton.

Sarojini Jha Johnson judged the show, with awards given in three categories: Photography, 2-D and 3-D artwork. First Place winners received $100; second, $75; third, $50; and People’s Choice (based on votes), $25.

• David Humphrey, third place, “Wonders Of The Universe”

• Denise Yoder, Merit Award, “Old Men”

• Brenda Jarrett, Honorable Mention and People’s Choice awards, “Go Toward The Light”

2-D

• Arlyne Springer, first place, “Etching & Embossing Print”

• Greg Gearlds, second place, “Illusion of Structure”

• Amy Pasko Blackwell, third place, “Mise en Place”

• Greg Gearlds, Merit Award, “Sometimes Silence Is Best”

3-D

• Vernon Bedel, first place: “Deer Bowl,” stoneware

• Ellen Shaw, second place: “Heart of My Hearts,” jewelry

• Teddi Mangas-Coon, third place, “Tree Of Gold,” glass and resin

• Vernon Bedel, Merit Award, “Buffalo Horse,” stoneware

• Chic Elbert Velazco, Honorable Mention, “Southwest Musings,” bas relief

The show, which is sponsored by R&R Engineering, continues at the gallery, 119 W. State St., through July 3. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
