Car, truck, cycle show set for Saturday
PENDLETON — The Sons of AMVETS Post 26 annual Fall Car, Truck and Cycle Show is set for Saturday, Sept. 21, at the post, 939 S. Broadway St., Pendleton.
The show is open to the public.
There’s a $10 entry fee to register a vehicle.
There’s no admission charge to attend.
Registration is set for 9 a.m. to noon, after which judging will take place.
Awards will be presented at 1:30 p.m.
There will be Top 30 trophies with Commander’s Choice, Best of Show, People’s Choice and Largest Club Participation.
There will be food for purchase and door prizes.

Fishing Derby planned for Sunday
PENDLETON — Pendleton Lions Club Fishing Derby is set for Sunday, Sept. 22, at the lighthouse pond in Falls Park.
There are two age groups: ages 4-8 fish from 1-2 p.m. (sign-up is at 12:30); ages 9-13 fish from 2:30-3:30 p.m. (sign-up is at 2 p.m).
There is no charge to participate.
PowderPuff games set for Wednesday
PENDLETON — Pendleton Height High School “Homecoming 2024 — Fairy Tales” PowderPuff game is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, at the school’s football stadium.
The annual PowderPuff football game will be between the junior and senior girls. Admission to the game is $5.
The homecoming parade and football game is set for Friday, Sept. 27.
American Legion plans activities
PENDLETON — American Legion Post 117, 611 W. State St., Pendleton, plans the following events — open to members and non-members:
Sept. 21 — band Stella Luna returns, 7-10 p.m.
Sept 30 — Early Bird cutoff for membership.
Regular events
All-you-can-eat wings: 5-8 p.m. Thursdays
Lunch specials (as well as regular menu): starting at 11 a.m. weekdays, until food runs out
Happy Hour: 3-6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays
Treasure Hunt drawing: 7 p.m. Fridays
The Legion’s general membership meeting is 6 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday each month. Public is welcome.
The facility is smoke-free.

PAS Third Annual Plein Air Competition
PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society’s Third Annual Plein Air Competition is Sept. 28.
The competition is open to any painter. There will be three divisions in the competition: Division 1, adults; Division 2, children up to age 14 (must be accompanied by an adult); Division 3, ages 14-18.
Participants may register either online at https://pasgallery119.org/ or at the headquarters at Gallery 119, located at 119 W. State St., Pendleton. Check-in is 9-10 a.m. There will be an entry fee of $25 for adults or $30 for same-day registration. Youth registration is $10 each.
A light lunch will be provided.
Art created the day of the event will be displayed in Gallery 119 and judged. Winners will be announced following the judging. Judge is Marylin Witt.

Art classes on the schedule
PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society has a variety of art classes on its schedule, including:
Jewelry Class with Tracy Davidson — 1-6 p.m. Sept. 29. In this beginner or intermediate class, students will design unique rings involving lots of texture. It involves simple soldering, and participants will choose from an assortment of gemstones. Cost is $65.
Inaugural Lunch and Learn Series — noon to 2 p.m. Oct. 19. Participants will join restaurateur Teddi Mangas-Coon in the kitchen at Gallery 119 to learn to “Make Baklava like a Greek Yia Yia.” Participants will bake a small pan of baklava using 60 layers of filo dough, walnuts, pecans, butter, sugar and honey. All supplies will be provided. While baking, bring a bag lunch to enjoy. Coffee and water will be provided. Cost is $30. Class limited to 10 people.

Town seeks input on revitalization plan
PENDLETON — The Town of Pendleton is in the early stages of submitting a planning grant application to Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs to develop a new Downtown Revitalization Plan.
Planning grants are funded with Federal Community Development Block Grant dollars from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The program aims to encourage communities to plan for long-term holistic community development.
