Multiple events set for town

PENDLETON — Falls Park and State Street downtown are often the hub of activity in town, but perhaps no more so than the first weekend after Labor Day, when a handful of events coincide offering activities from stretching from Thursday through Sunday.
Pendleton Heritage Fair, Pendleton Fall Festival, in addition to Quilts in the Park, Park Fest and the Lucky Duck Race, provide a variety of things to do while supporting local amenities, including Pendleton Historical Museum, Pendleton Community Public Library and Falls Park itself.
Quilt show
PENDLETON — Spring Valley Quilt Guild of Pendleton plays host to the 43rd Quilts in the Park quilt show today, Sept. 5, through Sunday, Sept. 8, at Pendleton Historical Museum.
The show will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through Saturday and 1:30 to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
In addition to more than 100 quilts on display, there will be handmade items for sale, as well as fabric, books, notions and patterns.
The guild also will sell raffle tickets for this year’s quilt made by guild members. There will also be mini-lessons throughout the quilt show on a wide variety of quilting and crafting topics.
Entry costs $5 and, like all proceeds from the show, benefits the museum. Last year’s admission fees and raffle funds helped the guild give the museum about $3,000.
ParkFest
The fourth annual ParkFest is set for today, Sept. 5, at Barnhart Field.
Featured entertainment includes Stella Luna and the Satellites beginning at 7 p.m.
Gates open at 5:30 p.m., and other activities include a picnic space decorating contest with prizes, children’s play area and chalk drawing contest. Food trucks will be serving.
Tickets cost $15 (or four-pack for $40); children 10 years old and younger enter free of charge.
Tickets are available at fallsparkfest.com.
Parking will be available in Falls Park, YMCA and Alvin D. Brown Memorial Pool. Golf cart parking entrance is off of Water Street.
Proceeds benefit the Falls Park amphitheater project.
