PENDLETON — Circle City Corvair Club, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, was featured in the annual Pendleton Kiwanis Kar Show recently.

“I chose to have the Corvair as the cover vehicle for the flyers in support and celebration of a club full of amazing people,” car show organizer John Shull said.

Shull said he’s been a Circle City Corvair Club member since 2017. He’s been a board member for several years and currently serves as secretary.

“These are highly underappreciated cars with amazing owners who love to come out and support causes. I felt they deserved a day in the spotlight to show off and teach people about the cars, since many people don’t know about them.”

The club has 70 members across Indiana, treasurer Rod Lasley said.

It meets monthly, takes road trips and participates in various car shows “to continue to bring attention to one of Chevrolet’s most revolutionary automobiles,” Lasley said.

“The air-cooled, 6-cylinder, rear-engine car was well ahead of its time during its 10 years of existence from 1960 through 1969.”
