PENDLETON – Pendleton Indiana Farmers Market is in the middle of its 2024 season, offering a range of produce, baked goods, and arts and crafts, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturdays in Falls Park.
The market runs through September (except Sept. 7), according to market manager Karyn Ledbetter.
For the remainder of the season, there will be more than a dozen produce vendors at the market each week.
The market offers a children’s activity — part of its Young Sprouts program — once a month. In May and June there were activities for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day; on July 27, the activity was Olympic Seed Tapes, involving red, white and blue flower seeds. On Aug. 10, in conjunction with National Farmers Market Week (Aug. 3-10), there will be market bingo. September’s activity is to be determined.
Organizers are also planning other National Farmers Market Week festivities.
Also, Dog Days of Summer Day is planned for Aug. 17. There will be “pup cups,” treats for dogs given out at the farmers market information booth, and a pet parade (cats and dogs).
Sept. 14 will be emergency preparedness day, with several agencies on site, including South Madison Fire Territory, Pendleton Police Department, Madison County Emergency Management and more. A Versiti blood donation vehicle will be there, too.
The market is overseen by the Friends of Falls Park board of directors. Friends is a non-profit organization aimed at assisting the park board in preserving, improving and promoting the park.
