PENDLETON — The Pendleton Heights High School girls swimming and diving team is putting together a lot of first-place finishes.

You couldn’t ask for better timing, with the Hoosier Heritage Conference Championships scheduled for Saturday at New Palestine High School.

The girls team finished first among seven participants at the Shelbyville Relays on Saturday, Dec. 14.

The Arabians won six of 11 events, scored 138 points and broke the meet record — which it already owned — for the 400 medley relay.

What may give the team even higher hopes heading into the HHC meet is last week’s dual meet win against Greenfield-Central, winners of the last three conference titles.

At home on Dec. 12, Pendleton Heights beat Greenfield-Central 101-82.

Grace McKinney won the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle races. Karly Riffey took top honors in the 50 and 100 freestyle events. Emma Robison won the 200 individual medley, and Elayna Sisson was victorious in the 1-meter diving competition.

Along with the individual wins, McKinney, Jaima Link, Kaitlyn Wheetley and Maggie Miller won the 200 freestyle relay. McKinney, Riffey, Robison and Link were first to finish the 400 freestyle relay.

Earlier last week, on Dec. 10, the Arabians beat another HHC foe, Yorktown, 102-74. Robison won the 200 IM and 100 butterfly. Riffey was victorious in the 50 Freestyle. Maddie Oliver was first to touch in the 100 Backstroke, while Sisson was a winner again in diving.

Robison, Riffey, Oliver and Wheetley won the 200 Medley Relay.

Sisson also picked up a third-place finish in the Pendleton Heights Diving Invitational, which took place Saturday.

The Pendleton Heights boys team is also prepping for this Saturday’s HHC meet at NPHS.

The Arabians were sixth of seven teams at the Shelbyville Relays, scoring 68 points and picking up wins in the 200 medley relay and 150 butterfly relay.

Cayden Sisson scored 294 points and placed eighth at the diving invitational. He won in last week’s dual against Yorktown and placed second against Greenfield-Central. Oliver Claxon added a second place finish against the Cougars in the breaststroke.

The boys lost both dual meets, dropping a 138-43 decision to Greenfield-Central, which has won nine-straight conference championships.

The score for the Yorktown meet was in favor of the Tigers, 126-54.
